Public Works Services
Williams Township Public Works will trim trees and brush along Township-owned roads within the road right-of-way as part of an effort to maintain a safe overhead and roadside clearance to avoid damage to all vehicles, equipment, and buses. This will also help open up sight distances around curves and intersections to increase sign recognition and motorist safety. We roadside cut from June through September. Tree trimming is done in the fall after the leaves are off the trees.
Please be aware that this is a service we extend to our residents. The responsibility to maintain roadside weeds and trees are the property owners. We will get around to all Township roads as time permits.
If you keep roadside flowers or bushes, keep them at least two (2) feet off of the road edge and low enough for people in vehicles to see over them. If you maintain them yourself, Public Works will not have to do it.
We will begin to sweep all anti-skid material from the roads when we believe the Winter weather is over, usually after April 15th. We will utilize a combination of our own equipment and a sweeper truck rental if needed to remove materials as necessary.
Sweeping is usually a two-step process. The center of the roadway will be swept to the sides of the roadway first and then the sweeper truck or pick up broom will sweep up the sides.
Please do not sweep the material into piles or leave garbage and recycling cans in the roadway. We will get around to all Township roads as time permits.
White goods are picked up from Township residents as approved by the Board of Supervisors for one week in the month of May every year. White goods consist of objects made of a majority of recyclable metal. Appliances, lawn tractors, small equipment, scrap metal, fencing, etc. No electronics, furniture, propane tanks, gas tanks, appliances made of plastics (like plastic dishwashers), etc. will be picked up. We only pick up recyclables at the roadside and will not enter a home or garage for pick up. Non-recyclables will be left at the roadside and will be the responsibility of the property owner to dispose of properly.
Residents may bring their Christmas trees to the Recycling center at 2300 Morgan Hill Road and place it in the provided dumpster for tree recycling when provided.
PLEASE NOTE: ALL ornaments, lights, tinsel and bags must be removed! If any of these items are left on the trees, they get jammed in the shredder's blades. This will be available after the Christmas Holiday until the middle of January.
